LaTeX Font-consistent Diagrams Using Dia

Ensuring that manuscripts I produce using LaTeX have a consistent font throughout the document has been a long-held obsession of mine. The majority of documents I produce typically contain block diagrams which I almost always generate using third-party tools. I decided to get back into graduate school earlier than planned. I relocated back to Cape Town in December 2013, and officially enrolled into a doctoral programme, at the University of Cape Town [1]–that was in February 2014. (more…)

I left Cape Town and have permanently relocated back to Zambia

I left Cape Town on June 9 2013, after spending a total of 861 days. It feels good to be back home, however, I anticipate the road ahead will be long and hard… re-integration is already proving hard –day 7 in the small mining town of Mufulira, Zambia and bandwidth is already top on the list of things I’ve had to grapple with. It’s expensive and DAMN slow. I saw this coming though… (more…)
